Just wanted to say a massive thank you for the incredible job you did capturing our big day! Seriously, the photos in the sneak peek are beyond amazing, we're over the moon with how they turned out. You perfectly captured the craziness and the pure joy of the day and we can’t wait to see the rest of the pics!
Thanks for making us feel so comfortable in front of the lens. Your chill and friendly vibe made the whole thing a breeze, and we appreciate that more than words can say. It felt like having a mate at our wedding who just happened to be stellar at photography.

There are not nearly enough stars, not nearly enough. Not in our sky, not in this galaxy, not the universe, not the multiverse, to adequately rank and reflect the awesomeness that is Joel.
He may be Barefoot & Bearded but I will forever be Besotted & Indebted to this wonderful human. His art, his magic, his unparalleled ability to capture the beauty of both the extravagant and ordinary and reflect it back to you in a keepsake of a memory you can now, not ever forget (and could not remember so wholly on your own) is only surpassed by his superhuman empathy which exudes from him and reaches you on a molecular level where you trust that everything is ok.
Joel made the big day, our day. At every stage and beyond he was a pillar and cheerleader and an omnipotent source of joy and peace. His photos are art on their own (you can look at any one of his albums and see that) though that is nothing compared to the moment you see your own album. Your heart breaks like someone cracked you like a glow stick and you are overcome by this glowing rush of emotion seeing yourself, your forever person and everyone you love in a way you never have and now always will.
I cannot more highly recommend Joel. If you can, book him! If you can’t, change your date!
Joel, like the stars, the words fail to convey just how much I adore our images and you! There may be adequate prose somewhere, maybe it’s Shakespeare, maybe in Latin, there is probably a song out there but for now all I can say is ‘thank you, from the bottom of my heart’.

Anna - I honestly could not recommend Joel enough!!
I had the pleasure to work with Joel for my Vietnamese tea ceremony and wedding day.
Everything was FLAWLESS with Joel from the first point of contact, communication and the frequent check in’s before the big day, the pre-wedding shoot, to the actual day and the photos.
Joel is super knowledgeable with advice and tips (outside of photography) when it came to planning the wedding. He’s super patient and was able to give fantastic recommendations to help the day run smoothly.
My husband and I don’t particularly like being in front of the camera but Joel has a certain spark about him which made us feel so comfortable.
Everyone at our wedding absolutely LOVED him too!
Joel’s great fun to work with, professional, prompt with communication and helpful.
Most importantly the photos turned out amazing, it really feels like we’re re-living our special day every time we look at them.
I cannot recommend Joel enough.
Jack - Joel was the best photographer we ever could have asked for. Felt like we had a good friend we’ve known for years share celebrate and document our wedding with us.

5 out of 5 is simply not enough. Joel isn't just a photographer... he is honestly an absolute genius artist legend who not only loves his job but is the most passionate person and a friendly face on what can be a daunting day.
He loves what he does and it shows not only throughout the day in making it a smooth and enjoyable experience but in the aftermath with his commitment to Us and presenting us with the best photos possible.
Joel is now a friend and we cannot speak highly enough of not only his work but him as a person! If you want a relaxed day, no worries and no pictures with forced poses, go with Joel... he captured the most beautiful moments and we cannot thank him enough.

Joel is as good as they come.
He is one of the most talented people we know and absolutely killed both our engagement and wedding photos!
He captured us and our families in a way that showed our personal interactions and the bonds we have. He has created memories for us that we cherish and we get emotional looking back on our photos every time. He captures special moments that you can feel when you look at the photos.
Joel was so warm and easy going and just felt like one of us the whole way through.

One MILLION stars!
Stumbling across Joel’s work was the best thing that’s happened to me in the world of planning a wedding. His unique, honest and fun style of photography has allowed us to relive the best day of our lives in the most authentic way possible.
Joel may not realise but he was the one that sparked our excitement of planning a wedding. We were not excited to plan a traditional cut, copy wedding and after talking to Joel, we realised there are no freaking rules so we went on to plan the most fun day! His amazing tips with the timeline really changed the whole day and made it absolutely perfect and suited to the party that we wanted.

If we could rate more than 5 stars, we would! I had been following Joel on Instagram since 2014(!) and when my now-husband and I got engaged, I just knew regardless of how we got married, I wanted Joel to document the day. (I'd been fan girling for a while! :P)
Deciding to have a wedding vs eloping during covid was a tricky decision, but with our family all over Australia, having a big fun day with our family is ultimately what we wanted.
We wanted to avoid the cliches of a traditional wedding, whilst still having a special day we would remember forever, and Joel was awesome to chat to, get ideas off and have him share his experience and expertise with us.
So much of my inspiration for our day was drawn from the images he had created over the many years and we just knew we wanted authentic candid photos in the most beautiful of locations and we certainly got that!
Joel is the nicest of guys, and felt like one of our guests enjoying the day with us! There was no awkward, forced posing which we reaaaally didn't want and he captured the BEST images without being in anyone's way.
All of our guests commented on how amazing he was, so great to chat to, and clearly his photos show how talented he is.
In the lead up to our wedding, Joel rebranded Barefoot and I was super keen to see what this would mean for our photos. And what can I say? They are perfect. Book Joel!!!!
Literally the day after our wedding, all we could talk about was how amazing Joel was. The moments we had away from the reception, chatting and walking around taking photos are some truely amazing memories and we are so stoked. We can't wait to book Joel again for some portrait sessions in the future! He is an absolute master of his craft.

Gavin - Can’t rate Joel (Barefoot & Bearded) high enough!! He was more than just a photographer, he was the reason our day was PERFECT!! Any ounce of worry about eloping was gone from the first conversation with him. He picked incredible locations and made the day stress free, with nothing but laughs and good times.
