Sydney Film Wedding Photographer.
No generic wedding photos here. I have huge passion for history when it comes to photography. I am deeply inspired by 1970s-1980s New York street photographers and their ability to have captured real life moments amongst the chaos… moments that are fleeting and probably pass us without any recognition. These photos make you feel like you’re amongst the chaos, it feels real, unfiltered, raw and completely relatable.
I strive to create images that are REAL.
Having your special day shot on film also gives it a very real quality in itself. Film is real, you can hold the negatives and know that they were actually there with you on the day breathing the same air. Plus, the colours, texture and aesthetic of film has been a look I have been in love with ever since I started photographing weddings 10 years ago.
“All I want, is for my photos to feel personal enough that they belong in your family album.”

“A wizard behind the camera, and a genuine human. Thank you Joel for everything.
Myself and my partner can easily list a thousand and one reasons why to pick Joel to document your next adventure big or small but the key standouts are 1)the warmth of his personality and 2)his ability to capture the special moments, big or small.
I think that everyone who has met Joel can agree that he is as real as it gets.
His passion for capturing special moments is tremendous - he has the eye for detail, the eye to document the crazy moments, the hidden moments, the moments you can look back and have a giggle or cry about.
The remarkable human that he is, also has the ability to bring calmness to the chaos but also bring chaos to the party!
Everyone needs a bit of Joel in their life, even if you aren’t getting hitched! He brings all the good vibes and takes epic photos to capture it all. Love ya.”

Capturing the unique love stories of couples since 2014.
I would consider myself to be an extremely passionate person. I love all my favourite things with so much intensity, photography being a huge one of course!
Photography isn’t just a career for me, it’s visceral to who I am. I photograph my son, my partner, my friends and all my hobbies daily! I genuinely believe in the power of nostalgia and capturing a special moment in time to look back on with love and gratitude.
And what better way to do that for others than at weddings!
I spend my free time going for photo street photo walks, pottery, rock climbing, going to art galleries and spending as much time as I can with my gorgeous son, my loving partner and dear friends.

“ The best decision I ever made was to ask my wife to marry me, the second best was to get Joel from Barefoot and Bearded to shoot our wedding!!
He made it so special. He not only took the pressure off but made the whole day less stressful and helped where ever he could. Loz who was on his team even ironed my groomsmen’s pocket squares in amongst getting amazing photos.
Saying that Joel went above and beyond doesn’t even begin to describe everything they did.
And I haven’t even got to the photos, which are ridiculous! Every time I look at them I have a new favourite and I can look at them again and again and find a new detail or piece of the story from the day.
I highly recommend taking your hands off the wheel entirely - Joel will take care of you!
We don’t just have beautiful photos, he made art from our big day and it feels like a piece of history. There’s an epic quality to his work that feels like a frame from a Coppola film.
We may have paid him for his work but you can’t buy what Joel gave us!!! ❤️ “

Everything being on film was SO special and we truly couldn't have asked for a kinder, more comforting, approachable, talented wedding photographer. Just book him!!! “
